Remodeling and Home Inspections - How an inspection can prevent hidden costs

in |    0

Whether you are remodeling or selling your home, one of the least enjoyable steps of that process is the home inspection. There's nothing like having a complete stranger going through every closet, nook and cranny of your home, looking for problems.

For hours they'll be there, running water, flushing toilets, walking on the roof, inspecting crawl spaces, turning on the appliances, inspecting the foundation, and walking every square inch of your property. It can be quite stressful.

However, a good home inspection will certainly save you money in the long run. Nowadays, home sales require home inspections, and that's a good thing for you and your buyer. You know what shape your house is in, and so do they. Of course, any problems will have to be resolved before closing day.

There are ways to survive the home inspection cheerfully and with your wallet intact.

  • Know what you've got before you list to sell. Look to get a pre-listing inspection done on your property. Your qualified inspector will look at the roof, HVAC, foundation, and basic electrical and plumbing. They will give you an honest evaluation of what's good and what's lacking in your home. This way, there are no surprises down the selling road.
  • Know when to fix your home. You've seen those TV shows where a house is transformed before it's listed for sale. But, how do you know the buyers will like all those changes? Major repairs are something the seller has to deal with, and you should know ahead of time what type of appeal your home will have when it's listed for sale. A pre-listing home inspection will point out to you what needs to be remedied for a successful real estate transaction.
  • Know who to call. Everyone has questions when it comes to their home. Make sure you call the qualified home inspection professionals who will guide you to a smooth home transaction or home remodeling success.
